Welcome!
We are so glad you dropped by to check us out online.
We understand that as friendly as most churches hope to be, it still can be a little frightening visiting a church for the first time! Will everyone know what's going on but me? How should I dress? Will they ask me for money?
We've done our best to make Plymouth Church as "user-friendly" as possible. Whatever your background, especially if this is your first visit, we want you to feel comfortable!
What should I wear? Most of our folks dress business casual, but no one is concerned about anything other than your being here. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. We accept people as they are! There is no need to dress up to try and be someone that you're not. We're just real, ordinary people here, and no matter how you're dressed, or the color of your skin, or where you're from, we're just glad that you are here!
When should I get there? Sunday School begins at 9:45am and Church begins at 11am, so arrive about 5-10 minutes before that so you have time to settle in.
If you have children that need care, you will be given information and guidance at the Welcome Center in the lobby when you enter the building. During the church service, we have classes and accommodations for children from ages six-weeks through grade five. During Sunday School, we have classes for all ages (including adults).
For some, going anywhere for the first time can be a bit intimidating. To help avoid any worries, here's a quick summary of what to expect:
Upon arrival you will probably be greeted by one of our friendly greeters/ushers and given a program that lists what will happen during the church service and includes information about upcoming events. It also has a tear-off sheet for visitors to fill in. Please fill it in and place it in the offering plate. This will be your contribution: You will NOT be asked to give money!
In a typical church service we begin at 11am with a few minutes for announcements, then Pastor welcomes everyone and begins our time together with a brief prayer. We then spend time worshipping through music. We use a blend of traditional hymns along with some contemporary choruses. An overhead screen is used to display the words to the songs that we sing. There is usually a special presentation in song by the Adult Choir and a solo. At times we even use drama or video presentations. Pastor then gives a message, or "talk" from the Bible that is relevant and meaningful to our modern lives, then closes with prayer. We usually finish at noon.
Please know that we've ALL had our "first day" at church! So, if you don't understand something, simply ask! We really are a friendly bunch. Our goal, whether you are just looking into Christianity for the first time, or have been a Christian for many years, is that you should be encouraged and inspired by your visit with us. We want you to draw closer to God!
If you are still reading, (Wow!) we want you to know that it's not just about Sundays! God is with us all week long and we endeavor to lead lives pleasing to Him all week long. So to further encourage us, we have midweek activities for adults and children. Adults - this is a great way to get to know others in the church and to be real with each other about everyday living, because it is a smaller, more informal meeting with a questions-and-answer type setting. Currently we have two adult classes that meet on Wednesdays at 7pm. Call or email the church office if you want more information.
Thanks again for visiting our webpage. We hope you choose to come see us this Sunday!
