Do You Like Change?

Most people don’t like change. As we get older, I’ve heard we like it even less. This morning the air was quite crisp, a hint that change will soon be coming. The hours of daylight have diminished and it seems as if some trees are showing signs of changing. I truly enjoy summer but I look forward to the coming of cooler days and the beautiful fall colors.

Some change is pleasant and exciting. In our spiritual lives, if we find ourselves in a rut, perhaps a change is in order. We might choose a book of the Bible for in-depth study or get a hold of a good book to read as we seek to grow in our faith. As the days grow cooler, why not take a walk and talk with the Lord. A conversation with the creator, as we walk in the park, observing the beauty of His creation, can work wonders in our spiritual lives! Why not ask the Lord if there is someone you might be an encouragement to. Being Jesus to people in need is an enormous blessing to both them and us.

Personally, I want to guard against my spiritual life becoming routine. If need be, I will always look for a way to change my routine. That kind of change is a good thing. I hope some things never change but I want to be open to change that will enhance my walk with the Lord. As you observe the leaves changing in the days ahead, ask yourself, “Would some change be helpful to me?”
